Congratulations to Juliette Ortet, who successfully defended her thesis on Tuesday, May 27th at CESBIO ! This accomplishment was achieved through a collaboration between the University of Toulouse and the University of Trois Rivières in Canada.

The goal of her research was to develop new methods for monitoring Arctic permafrost conditions using passive microwaves. In particular, soil moisture and – for the very first time (!) – the temperature beneath the snow were retrieved, using SMOS Brightness Temperatures. More details will be coming soon on the blog, but for now: well done, Juliette!
